Shetland-Orkneyinga Saga pt2

Isle of Mull

I decided to have a week in Mull with my brother & sister rather than just wait until next year to restart my wanderings.

Graham & I drove Saturday then took the ferry to Craignure on the Isle of Mull.

The weather was good, overcast but dry when we arrived, so luck was with us. I didn't bring "the beast" so it is having a rest back on dry land.

We are staying at a very nice barn conversion near Duart Castle in the south east of the island.

The exploration started on Sunday with a drive up to Tobermory. A white-tailed eagle was spotted on the way but it flew away before we got to photograph it. Tobermory is known to my grandchildren as Balamory from the CBeebies TV show. So a few photos of the colourful houses had to be taken. We then headed further north to see the wonderful white sand beach at Calgary Bay before completing a circuit of the north of the island.

The weather was perfect; clear blue skies, little wind and a few wispy white clouds.

We then did a recce of the local beaches at the request of Diane prior to her arrival tomorrow. There was nothing really promising.

Tomorrow we plan on looking out for otters.
